They Shall Know

Can you finish the rest of this sentence? "And they shall know...... This is recorded in God's word about 75 times, the remainder is, ...that I am Jehovah." although, what you may have read in your Bible, instead of "Jehovah" would be "Lord". This phrase appears in the Old Testament, but it doesn't appear in the New Testament at all. Christ never is recorded saying this, only God Almighty, either directly or through one of His prophets, as Jehovah has directed them. "I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel. Speak to them saying, Between the evenings you shall eat flesh; and in the morning you shall be satisfied with bread; and you shall know that I am Jehovah your God." (Exodus 16:12), "And they shall know that I am Jehovah; not in vain have I said to do this to them." (Ezekiel 6:10), And behold, a certain prophet came near to Ahab the king of Israel, and said, So says Jehovah, Have you seen all the great multitude? Behold, I am going to give it into your hand today, and you shall know that I am Jehovah." (I Kings 20:13) and, "And you shall know that I am Jehovah your God dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain. And Jerusalem shall be a holy thing, and aliens shall no more pass through her." (Joel 3:17). These are just a few of the seventy plus verses, where God Almighty is recorded saying this to us in His word, which promotes an importance for us, to understand why this phrase is used so often. It was and still is important to Him, and also to His only-begotten Son, being the One who inspired all the Bible writers with His Father's messages, so that we should know who Jehovah is, and if we would read all these verses as they are presented in the Hebrew text, we could come to understand that Jehovah is God Almighty.

Unfortunately, man, with his many translations from Hebrew to English has misdirected Christ's intended importance for "Jehovah" by replacing His name with "Lord" a title, which can also apply to Jesus and a number of men. Even a wife would call her husband "lord", "And Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After my being old, shall there be pleasure to me, my lord also being old." (Genesis 18:12). There is an important purpose for God Almighty to have a personal name, and reasons why He uses a personal name, and it would be the same reason why Christ, in His inspiration to the many Bible writers, used God's personal name 6746 times, in the Old Testament. We are to know His name, "Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah." (Deuteronomy 6:4); we are called to pray to Jehovah God and we are to give glory to our God and Father, who has created all things, by His will and His power. "And Jehovah answered Job and said...Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth..." (Job 38:4),  "And God Jehovah formed the man out of dust from the ground, and blew into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Exodus 2:7), "Therefore, you should pray this way: Our Father who is in Heaven, let be sanctified Your name." (Matthew 6:9). This verse brings up another important point: as it is written in most all Bible translations, God's name doesn't appear in this verse, or anywhere in the New Testament, despite the importance placed on His holy name in the Old Testament. "And I saw and beheld, the Lamb standing on Mt. Zion! And with Him were a hundred and forty-four thousand, with the name of His Father having been written on their foreheads." (Revelation 14:1). Doesn't this verse clearly indicate the importance of knowing and using God's personal name? Also, "and for the nations to glorify God for mercy, even as it has been written, Because of this I will confess to You in the nations and will give praise to Your name." (Romans 15:9, which is from Psalm 18:49), "Therefore I will extol You, O Jehovah, among the nations, and I will sing praises to Your name." All verses used here are from the J. P. Green Interlinear Bible, which also includes the Hebrew and Greek text, for use to confirm the best translation. It is my confirmed belief that God's name was present in the New Testament text, in some Greek form or whatever language in which the original New Testament was written, because, for one, "Lord" is not a name, also Christ Himself, in the New Testament quoted Old Testament verses and read from the Hebrew scrolls and absolutely would have read and quoted it correctly, as He inspired His chosen writers, or He would have voiced a comment about this error, if there was a change made, just as He tossed out the money changers selling to the sinner, "And making a whip out of ropes, He threw all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and the moneychangers, pouring out the money and overturning the tables." (John 2:15). He also corrected them in their other errors, so He surely would have corrected them for replacing His Father's name with a common title. I have to believe that God's name was in the original New Testament text, but was eliminated, replacing His holy name with "Lord" or "God" just as His name was replaced 6742 times in the KJV, Old Testament, and other Bible versions. Both are unauthorized manipulations and a disrespect of God's divine word, given to us by His only-begotten Son, who is also perfect.

"And they shall know that I am Jehovah." but we, the Christian community certainly do not, just as the Jewish nation continually lost sight of their God Jehovah, and disregarded His laws. We are doing the same, and proof of this is in the original Hebrew text of the Ten Commandments, which contains God's name, "Jehovah" eight times, "You shall not take the name of Jehovah your God in vain; for Jehovah will not leave unpunished the one who takes His name in vain." (Exodus 20:7), which is just one example of these eight unauthorized changes. This was a conscious act of the translators, and in many cases, a decision of our pastors because most have read, or should have read, from an Interlinear Bible with the Hebrew text, during their education to become a speaking representative of Almighty God, and a choice must have been made, to use an obvious incorrect translations of the sacred Bible, God's expressed word. I can only speculate as to the reason for this multitude of changes in our Bibles, which would bare no weight or reason for any unauthorized change. Just as Christ revealed errors of the Jewish traditions on His earthly walk, we have our own share of traditions in error and Christ also notices our errors. Why does the Christian community continue to ignore this easily provable, unauthorized change in God's inspired Book? When made aware of this error, the general response has been, "it really doesn't matter". But of course it does, for correct understanding who is being spoken of.

Why did Jehovah give this declaration "they shall know that I am Jehovah"? He said this when He revealed to man what He was going to do, then, when they saw His prediction come true, they would know that He is God Almighty, who is in control of whatever He desired to do. This was to put a sense of fear in the onlookers of His acts, because He wanted them to cease from doing their iniquities. He also wanted them to distinguish His acts from the other so called gods, because there were many pagan gods, so He did many predicted acts using His holy name in order to establish His reputation, separating Him from the many other earthly gods, knowing they were useless pieces of wood, silver, gold or some other substance, and not capable of doing anything, good or bad, and this can apply to the idols of today, which has expanded to any thing or any one who man puts before God "Jehovah". This was the same reason God hardened Pharaoh's heart to perform His many wonders in bringing His people out of Egypt, to put fear in the nations, especially for the ones occupying the land He was about to give to the Israelites for an inheritance.

What about us now, do we want to know that Jehovah is God, or are we contented with following the lead of the human translators that have substituted Almighty God's name with a common title and not His personal name, "Jehovah", Strong's #3068 Yehovah; from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, the Jewish national name of God: - Jehovah, the Lord, Comp. 3050, 3069. or do we want to express God's name as Christ gave it to us through His many Bible writers 6746 times, or more if we conclude that His name was also take out of the New Testament text. I cannot say with any certainty the reason for these unauthorized changes, but I'm certain it doesn't please God, Jehovah or His Son, Jesus. "For everyone, whoever may call on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13 & Acts 2:21), both are quotes from (Joel 2:32), "For it shall be, all who shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be saved. For salvation shall be in Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem as Jehovah has said and among the saved whom Jehovah shall call." And you should know that Jehovah is God.

As to a related subject, It is not incorrect to consider Jesus as our Savior, Paul writes, "to Titus, a true child according to our common faith. Grace, mercy, peace from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior." (Titus 1:4) because He was sent to establish Jehovah's salvation plan for humanity by the blood of His, a  perfect sacrifice, His only-begotten Son Jesus. Jehovah was the originator of our salvation; Paul also indicates this, "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ according to the command of God our Savior, and the Lord Jesus Christ, our Hope." (I Timothy 1:1). "Jehovah has bared His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God." (Isaiah 52:10) and, "I, I am Jehovah; and there is no Savior besides Me." (Isaiah 43:11), and Jehovah was the only Savior at that time because Christ had not yet been sent to establish His Father’s salvation by allowing Christ's blood to be shed for man's sake.

Is it important to know, use and honor the name of our God, Jehovah? "And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You Jehovah have not forsaken those who seek You." (Psalm 9:10), "Remember this: the enemy has defamed, O Jehovah; and a foolish people have scorned Your name." (Psalm 74:18). "Let them praise the name of Jehovah; for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heavens." (Psalm 148:13), and, "For all the peoples walk, each one in the name of his god; but we will walk in the name of Jehovah our God forever and ever." (Micah 4:5). God wants all to know His name, "And the Egyptians shall know that I am Jehovah when I send forth My hand on Egypt and bring out the sons of Israel from their midst." (Exodus 7:5), "that they may know from the sunrise and to the sunset, that there is none besides Me; I am Jehovah, and there is none else." (Isaiah 45:6). He has a warning to those who care not to know His name,  "My eye shall not spare and I will not have pity; I will put on you according to your ways, and your abominations that are in your midst. And you shall know that I am Jehovah who strikes." (Ezekiel 7:9), "And I gave them My sababths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah, who set them apart." (Ezekiel 20:12) and, "And I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself. And I will be known in the eyes of the many nations; and they shall know that I am Jehovah." (Ezekiel 38:23). This phrase, "They shall know that I am Jehovah" is recorded about 80 times in the Old Testament, indicating that it is important for us to realize who is doing all that He does because He wants us to know that He is the self existent One and that His name is "Jehovah", but not only Him, but also we are to honor His Son, who inspired the writers who want us to know our Father's name. I ask one question? Do you know why man has taken God's name out of God's Book? Recorded 6746 times in the Old Testament Hebrew text, but only presented 4 times in the King James Version Bible and about the same with most other version, with four exceptions that I know of. There could not be any reasonable purpose for these many unauthorized changes in God's sacred word, and there is no reason to continue this foolish act against our provider and Creator. The four Bibles are: the American Standard Version, the Jehovah's Witness Bible, Young's Literal Translation Bible and the J. P. Green Interlinear Bible. Can we consider that God Jehovah will continue to ignore the Christians who chose to not honor His holy name? Jehovah has already answered this question, if you search, you will find it.
